Rosa Damascena essential oil is truly the queen of all essential oils. Fossilised remains of rose originating some 35 million years ago show that the plant orginated in Asia.
The extraction of the oil is a very complex and time critical process. The roses have to be harvested by hand , before dawn and processed the same day to keep the fragrance fresh. Because of the very low yield of oil per flower, it can take up to 5 tonnes of flowers to make 1kg of oil!
The benefits of the oil are well documented. Its anti-inflamatory and anti-bacterial properties made it a go-to remedy for respiratory complaints and treating mild infections.
It has long been used for its skin regenerating and anti-oxidant properties (Cleopatra was said to be a fan!) and of course, its fragrance.
Why not try our Rose and Jasmine Whipped Body Mousse for silky smooth skin, or our Rose and Neroli hair oil for super bouncy and shiny hair?
