The genus Jasminum goes back millennia. It has even been found in fossils dating back
to the tertiary era (65 to 2.6 million years ago)!
It is one of my absolute favourite essential oils. It has a floral, slightly sweet and exotic fragrance. The harvest of the flowers happens at night when the fragrance is at its peak but as the yield of oil is very low, it takes around 7 million flowers to produce 1kg of Jasmine absolute!!
There are around 100 species of Jasmine in Asia today. It is used to help meditation, calm coughs and aches, stress and anxiety. It is also said to have regenerative properties and is often used in cosmetics for this reason.
Why not try my Rose and Jasmine body mousse or Jasmine and May-Chang hand salve?
